Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
It seems like the best way to optimize this is to have a low-resolution version of the tubes without all this geometry, that loads up when the character enters one of the tubes. Or something.
