Putting the test code in the same package makes it easier for forks since they don't have to change the import paths as much. Also, address a few style and consistent nits while here: - Prefer t.Fatalf over t.Errorf followed by a return - Use the consistent style of starting a test function comments with the test name - Prefix test errors by the function being called instead of the one doing the calling since the caller itself is already logged by the test framework - Check err in max depth test before checking the returned key is nil |

Package btcutil provides bitcoin-specific convenience functions and types.
A comprehensive suite of tests is provided to ensure proper functionality. See
test_coverage.txt
for the gocov coverage report. Alternatively, if you are
running a POSIX OS, you can run the cov_report.sh
script for a real-time
report.
This package was developed for btcd, an alternative full-node implementation of bitcoin which is under active development by Conformal. Although it was primarily written for btcd, this package has intentionally been designed so it can be used as a standalone package for any projects needing the functionality provided.
