Merge #11452: Improve ZMQ functional test

cc9ee80 Improve ZMQ functional test (João Barbosa)

Pull request description:

  After #11439, this PR only improves:
   - test comments;
   - simplicity by removing *duplicate* tests;
   - also removes duplicate code.
